Big Brother 25 (Week 12)- Twice As Fun...(For Real This Time)
After a very underwhelming double eviction that wasn't really a double eviction, we finally got the night we'd been waiting for all season. If only it weren't so predictable. Maybe it's me complaining because of the end result. With an unprecedented Head of Household in charge for the week, the writing appeared to be on the wall following Cory's eviction. While it didn't go exactly as expected, the result was the same.
Jag's 2nd HOH Reign
This week was largely uneventful, so I'm going straight into Jag's HOH. For the first time in Big Brother US history, a houseguest won HOH in consecutive weeks. Of course, it was the one guy no one wanted to win because he's won everything in recent weeks. Let's start by clarifying that I don't dislike Jag as a person. I dislike him as a Big Brother player. I don't think he should've been allowed to win this competition. There were many ways for him to throw this, like Claire did in BB23. Nevertheless, Jag won again. He nominated Blue and America. This is where I can admit I was wrong. I was confident that America was going to be the target. Instead, it was Blue. I don't dislike his thinking, though I'd hardly call Blue a competitive threat. Overall, it was a better week than last week.
This Week's First Eviction
I have a love-hate relationship with Blue. I was very high on Blue at the beginning of the season. I found her preseason introduction interesting, and I thought she'd provide a ton of entertainment to the season. Then, she stepped into the Diary Room. I have no problem with someone showing personality, but Blue came across as fake in the DR. Granted, I'm willing to bet most of it was scripted, but her exit interview certainly wasn't. Blue calling herself a "master strategist," joking or not, is laughable. Her interview provided absolutely nothing of substance, and I'm sure we'll forget she was on the show in a few years. The cherry on top was that she didn't last longer than America, though not for long.
I also have a bone to pick with the rest of the houseguests about how they evicted Blue. Clearly, I have no issue with her being evicted. However, we were deprived of a beautiful blindside. Why do they insist on telling the houseguest they will be evicted right before the eviction? Give us the blindside! We want a real blindside. Otherwise, they can prepare what to say and wear. The second we saw Blue looking decent during the episode, I knew she knew she was heading out the door. I'm sure we'll see how it went down during Sunday's episode, but I hate that Blue knew.
Double Trouble
There was little time to mourn the eviction of Blue because we had a new HOH to crown on Double Eviction Night. It was a quiz competition where the houseguests needed to memorize details in movie posters. For a minute, Cirie was in the lead. A Cirie HOH would've been ideal. However, Matt and Bowie caught up, tying the competition going into the final question. Cirie fell short as Matt and Bowie were forced into a tiebreaker. Needing to guess how long Part 1 of the double veto lasted, Matt overshot the landing, allowing Bowie to earn her second HOH win of the season. Once Bowie won, all hope was abandoned. Matt cruised to a lopsided and largely unfair veto win, kept nominations the same, and America was shipped to the jury house to reunite with Cory.
This Week's Second Eviction
Like all of us, America knew her time was up pretty quickly. It's a shame because she never stood a chance in that veto competition. She was tearing up before the votes were cast. She did give a genuine interview with Julie once she was evicted. It was clear she was coming for Matt and Jag, but they got her first. At least she'll get a few weeks with Cory before the season ends. Regardless, it was the least exciting way for the double eviction to play out.
What Could Happen Next Week (WITH HOH SPOILERS)
I'm not upset by Matt winning the HOH this week. Of the four houseguests playing, Matt was second on my list, behind only Cirie. Jag winning was the worst-case scenario, and I'm growing tired of Felicia. Matt promised Cirie she wouldn't hit the block if he won HOH at the end of Thursday's episode. I still think she's going on the block as an initial nominee. She'll sit next to Felicia as the five remaining houseguests vie for the veto. If Jag or Bowie wins the veto, the dream dies. Cirie winning would be ideal. As long as Jag and Bowie don't win, this could be a positive week.
