Big Brother 24: Finale Recap

After 82 days in the Big Brother house, there was a lot of business that needed to be handled in two hours of television. We started the night with three houseguests remaining but by the end of the night, we would be left with just one standing tall and claiming the $750,000 prize. It all came down to Monte, the personal trainer with a mechanical engineering background, Taylor, the pageant queen and personal stylist, or Turner, the rug maker and thrift store owner. A full season of play came down to one night. Here are my thoughts on the final night of Big Brother 24. The 3-Part HOH Competition and Final Eviction The tried and true three-part competition for the final HOH of the summer featured the same competitions we've come to expect from Big Brother. They opened with an endurance competition that saw the Final 3 holding onto a rotating and bucking hot dog for as long as they could. This competition was designed to benefit someone with good upper-body strength and a strong grip ...

Big Brother 24: Week 11 Recap

We started the week by knowing we had one person in the Final 3 already and it would be a very slow burn with just four people in the house. We'd get a little bit of drama between the lovebirds, but it was otherwise a week-long wait to get to Eviction Night on Thursday. We did get some exciting guests in the studio for Thursday night as the Cookout returned to talk about the season and who they want to win. Though we knew around Sunday or Monday who was going to be evicted, it was still cool to see a little bit of fight left in the competitors.  Mon-Tay is Dead? The only real drama we had inside the house this week centered around Monte and Taylor. After starting a late-season romance last week during Monte's reign, it carried into this week when Taylor took power. They spent a lot of time together in the HOH room, but constant contact can lead to tension from the smallest things. The greatest source of this tension seemed to come from an incident in the HOH room when Taylor to...

Big Brother 24: Week 10 Recap

After the absolutely shocking double eviction that sent Michael home last week, it was time for a slight reset in the game. The race for the top prize seemed to open up for the five remaining houseguests. The week was filled with late-night sleepovers, new romance, and a houseguest seemingly spiraling out of control. It wasn't the most exciting week in the house, but how could it be after the stressful evictions last week. We're in the endgame now and it was time for some moves to be made. While it didn't end with the most surprising eviction, the journey to it was very fun.  A House Without Michael Had Michael stayed past the Double Eviction, they probably would've just cut the $750k check for him right then and there. He was on his way to breaking the all-time single-season competitions record with at least two more cracks at it this week. Instead, Turner and Monte, though mostly the latter, took the opportunity to send him packing from the game in sixth place and cre...

Big Brother 24: Week 9 Recap

The anticipation was already running wild in the Big Brother community for a classic Double Eviction episode and it delivered on all fronts. While the houseguest might not have known what was going on, everyone outside of the hoes did and we knew it was going to get spicy. Before we could get to the jamp-packed second hour of Eviction Night, we had an entire week to stew on the first person that would be evicted. We saw the returns of some popular staples in the Big Brother game and it made for some great conversation. There is a lot to unpack about this week, especially how it ended. This one might be a week for the books.  Zingbot and BB Comics Return The anticipation for Zingbot is talked about from the onset of the game. Everyone wants to be in the hoes when he arrives as he roasts the houseguests with his patented "zings". In classic Big Brother fashion, we as the audience knew he was coming, but the excitement on the houseguests' faces when Julie announced he be dro...

Big Brother 24: Week 8 Recap

If we've learned anything from this season it's that there is never a dull moment. Even when you think things are going smoothly, it takes one second to change the entire trajectory of the week. This might go down as one of the most talked about weeks in the show's long history and not for the best reasons. There is a lot to unpack about one specific situation and I'll be talking a lot about it. I know that it has been talked about a lot already, but I felt this was as good a time as any to share my thoughts. This was certainly a crazy week and I'm not quite sure where we go from here.  On the Verge of History Before I talk about the serious stuff, I want to talk about something that I've touched on a little bit in previous weeks. Michael had been slipping a little bit when it came to veto wins after winning four of the first five this season. He hadn't won in the last two weeks and with his back against the wall, he decided now was as good a time as any to ...

Big Brother 24: Week 7 Recap

With the house divided into two simultaneous games, we were promised this would be a week unlike any other. That ended up being half true. While half of the house stuck to their guns and didn't stray from the plan, the other side decided it was time to shake things up. It was honestly a very sloppy week on many accounts and we'll dive into that here shortly. It was going to be interesting to see just how different this week would be. Different is certainly a word for it. A new mastermind seems to be making his way up the chain and it could lead to some waves being made in the coming weeks.  RIP Leftovers While I think technically those inside the house will stay together, the seven-person alliance might as well be considered dead for good. If this twist was meant to break things down, it succeeded. The death of the Leftovers came when Kyle exposed them to Terrance and Alyssa to try and keep himself safe and while it stinks for it to be over, this was the perfect time for it to ...

Big Brother 24: Week 6 Recap

After weeks of feeling like Taylor's demise was imminent, she now holds the power over the game. She helped play a part in several evictions and now as the reigning HOH, she can directly influence the direction of the game. It was a very interesting week in the house and it felt like things were all over the place. Targets were moving, cracks were showing, and punishments were dolled out. It all culminated in a rather straightforward Eviction Night, but this is clearly just the calm before the storm. Here is a look back at the week inside the Big Brother house. The Leftovers Civil War is Brewing Most of this week's storytelling doesn't get very interesting until we hit the veto competition, so that's where I'm going to spend most of my time. It's been a few weeks since the Leftovers formed and they've clearly been the biggest force in the house, knocking out the other houseguests one by one. This is the first week we can say that things didn't go smoothl...

Big Brother 24: Week 5 Recap

Despite previously saying that he was ready to pack his bags once Nicole was evicted last week, Daniel dug in and fought this week. It didn't go well for him, but at least he fought. The Leftovers have been steamrolling the game for two weeks now and were looking to keep their momentum going for the third week. The core group remained intact for another week, but some cracks are beginning to form as uncertainty about the future of their games begins to set in. The other side of the house was left scrambling to keep one of their own safe this week and it was an unlikely face that was at the front of the efforts.  From Muffingate to Cider-gate Living in isolation with very few options when it comes to food, sometimes you get very possessive over food and drinks. This week's episodes featured two such occurrences. Muffingate technically started last week during Monte's HOH reign and it only aired as part of the show this week. The story goes that Jasmine set aside two muffins ...

Big Brother 24: Week 4 Recap

Last week, a new alliance was brought pulling the strings behind the scenes and it led to another surprising eviction that sent Ameerah home, much to the dismay of the girls in the house. This week, the Leftovers had more time to get their game together. The lines had clearly been drawn for the most part, with only a few players appearing to be in the middle. While there didn't appear to be as much drama, there was some love in the air, giving up our first potential showmance of the season. It was a relatively tame week in the house, but it ended with some harsh words and an eviction that left the Big Brother community celebrating. With it being a slow week, there isn't too much substance to write about, so this is going to be a shorter review. Instead, I'm going to supplement it on the backend with where I think each player stands in terms of their chances of winning. Kylyssa...or maybe Alyssyle? After Big Brother 23 didn't provide us too many romantic vibes, the first...

Big Brother 24: Week 3 Recap

After Pooch was evicted last week, the dynamic of the game seemed to be shifting in favor of the Girls Girls and Po's Pack alliances. The vote was unanimous and it kept Taylor in the game for another week. Now, it's time for the Festie Bestie twist to shake the game up by forcing the houseguests to work in pairs. While it looked like the picking of partners was strategic, that strategy would quickly get thrown out the window. This week featured the first big blow-up of the season and a second blindside that sent half of the hoes reeling. There is a new majority alliance in town and they aren't taking any prisoners.  What's Up, Bestie Last week, I likened the plan the Po's Pack alliance had in place for picking their Festie Besties to that of The Cookout from last season. After just one week, I've found that was a gross oversimplification because The Cookout at least stayed true to their word until they reached the final six. In just a few days, the Po's Pack...

Big Brother 24: Week 2 Recap

After an incredibly hectic and unprecedented first week of Big Brother 24, things really needed to cool down. Week 1 saw a self-eviction that canceled the first elimination vote of the season and the first big twist. It garnered a lot of controversy from the fans and former players of Big Brother with talks of bullying and micro-aggressions dominating the first week's narrative. The second week does start with a small controversy but it ends with an early candidate for the moment of the season. It's a bit of a weird one since the normal Thursday eviction was aired on Sunday and I'm doing these reviews with the episodes when they air, so this review will go from the Week 2 HOH competition and end with the Week 3 HOH competition and the winner before getting into what I expect to see this coming week.  Did Jasmine's Foot Touch the Ground? It didn't take long for a new subject to be at the forefront of discussions online. The HOH competition was done in two parts. The ...
