Big Brother 25 (Week 6)- Space Cowboy to Base
With Cameron winning the power at the end of Thursday's episode, there was a lot of hope that things would be shaken up in the house. For a split second, that didn't appear to be the case. By the time Friday rolled around, it was clear that the game was about to change. Things didn't pick up until right before the evictions, but there were plenty of fireworks. There is a lot to unpack about the week.
Taking Aim at the Fields Family...Kinda
This was not a fun week to be associated with the Fields Family. Cameron took direct aim at the alliance he felt was controlling the house. He may have slightly miscalculated with his initial nominations, but he got a positive result at the end of the day. Despite Cam's wishes, Felicia was the target for most of the week. That changed Wednesday with many different triggers to set the dominos in motion. I credit America for kickstarting this campaign because she was one of the few people who wanted Izzy out when she went up on the block. I also credit Jared for being unable to keep his mouth shut and telling Cory enough to change his mind about targeting Izzy. Throughout Wednesday, conversations were had with Matt, Jag, Bowie, and Mecole to get them on their side to flip the vote to Izzy.
The attempt to blindside Izzy sent off alarms in Cirie's head because she started to sense something was off. This led Jared to get back into the middle of things, and after creating a lie to try and get information out of Cory and Matt, things blew up once Felicia was privy to the plan that she was staying without the votes she thought she had and asked Jared about it. This led to a nearly two-hour discussion, primarily between Cory and Jared, with Matt and Bowie there for most of it and a revolving door of bystanders. Jared came out on the wrong end of this because he lied almost the entire time, making himself look like an idiot. It turned nearly the whole house against him, though he'd get the last laugh. This is the first time the Fields Family has looked this weak, all because Jared went on a tirade. Everyone is starting to wake up to the fact that Cirie is in charge, and she has a close-knit group controlling everything. I might be blowing it out of proportion, but it sets up an interesting dynamic in the house.
Jury Shake-up
During last week's eviction episode, Julie teased an announcement regarding the jury for this season. This led many to speculate what the news would be. The air was cleared last night with the announcement that we'd be returning to the old jury format, meaning we'd have seven jurors this season instead of nine. For BB2 through BB14, the jury had seven members before switching to nine jurors beginning with BB15. This was a welcome surprise to many who'd theorized we could see a Final 3 on finale night or that the fans would get a vote like during BB1 or OTT. This is an excellent move for the season. The pre-jury phase has been so chaotic that extending it for two more evictions is the right decision.
Cameron's 2nd Reign as HOH
After his initial reign was negated by Matt using the Power of Invincibility, there were hopes that Cameron would step up and shake up the game. It looked like he'd repeat his initial nominations from two weeks ago by putting up Jag and Blue. Then, he pulled the rug out from underneath us all and nominated Izzy and Felicia instead. His idea was to go after Cirie's closest group by targeting Izzy and putting up Cirie as a replacement nominee if either came off the block. When Jared won the veto and Cam told him Cirie would be the replacement, that plan wouldn't come to fruition. Honestly, he wasn't going to get his initial wish to get Izzy out of the house until most of the house changed their minds. History will remember Izzy being evicted during Cam's HOH, but it won't tell the whole story. The biggest thing to come from this week is that Cam finally realizes his position in the house isn't great.
This Week's Eviction
I have a love-hate relationship with Izzy. On the live feeds, she's non-stop and plays the game at 1,000 miles per hour. She is having conversations with everyone and comes across as a likable person. However, her attachment to Cirie made it almost impossible for her to win the game, so I didn't have a vested interest in her game. I hate that she won't be on the jury because she clearly loves playing the game. Between her and Felicia, Izzy was the more significant game threat, but the houseguests didn't understand how little of a chance she had to win the game as long as she was on Cirie and Jared's side. I respect her decision to keep their secret hidden, though it likely wouldn't have changed anyone's mind. It's a big loss for the house, but it will make the next week interesting for Cirie.
What Could Happen Next Week (WITH HOH SPOILERS)
The wall competition was very short, and Jared was the final survivor, outlasting Bowie and Blue to win his 2nd HOH of the season. That means America and Cory are in trouble. Honestly, Blue and Cirie are the only two players who are absolutely safe. Cameron will likely be the backdoor target since he isn't someone they can trust to beat if he gets a shot at the veto competition. Jared will be very spiteful following the events of the 48 hours before the eviction. It would make the most sense to go after the one person you just fought with and his closest ally.
Things will get interesting on Thursday night when we're set to get a double eviction. With Jared unable to compete in the HOH competition, it puts himself and Cirie in the direct line of fire, given the numbers against them. The competition will likely be quiz-based, like we saw with Cameron's HOH win last week. Things will be moving quickly during the proceedings, so there won't be much room to move during the short breaks to talk game. It's hard to predict what will happen with the double eviction because it depends on who wins that initial HOH.
My Updated Ballot for America's Favorite Houseguest
17. Luke- Boooooooo!
16. Jared- Currently, the most unlikable person in the house, I hate he can't be evicted.
15. Red- I'm a little happy we didn't have to listen to him this week.
14. Cameron- This week endeared me to Cam a little, though he largely stinks still.
13. Hisam- His blindside feels like it happened a month ago.
12. Kirsten- She was once in the house about two years ago, or that's how it feels.
11. Blue- The nosedive down the list continues because I'm over her DR personality.
10. Jag- Despite his genuine lack of skill in this game, he's a very likable person.
9. Bowie- Though she remains an afterthought, she got a little spotlight on this week's episodes.
8. Izzy- She was very close to staying in the house, but she's officially a member of the Fields family.
7. Mecole- I like that she's starting to get into the action a little more.
6. Cirie- I still haven't been misted by Cirie's game, so she doesn't have a hold on me yet.
5. Felicia- She was 48 hours away from being out of the house, but we're keeping a great personality.
4. Reilly- She's been going live during episodes and playing up how much she'd love to come back.
3. Matt- This was a good week for Matt because now he realizes that America isn't really that bad.
2. America- Her position will likely take a hit with Jared in charge, but she and Cory are adorable.
1. Cory- I'm still riding with Cory, even if this could be his final week in the house.
