Big Brother 26, Week 12 Review- The End is Near

We are down to the Final 4 of Big Brother 26. The trio of Chelsie, Cam, and Makensy have been controlling the game for weeks, setting themselves on a collision course for Finale Night. The last houseguest standing in their way is Rubina, the final remaining from her trio. What felt like a surefire week for the trio came with questions concerning the right move for their win equity. Was it time for someone to make a big move? Or will the status quo remain with Finale Night around the corner?

Chelsie's HOH Reign
I'll keep this short because the HOH during the Final 4 holds little power outside the initial nominations. Her decision to keep Rubina off the block as an act of goodwill was as textbook as it gets. If that's all it took to earn Rubina's vote on Sunday night, it was a decision well made. Plus, it gives her plausible deniability if Cam or Makensy win the veto and Rubina has to go up as the default replacement nominee.

Makensy's Veto Decision + This Week's Eviction
It's a good thing Makensy keeps winning competitions because she has no game sense, but that's not news to anyone. Like Jag put it on Thursday night's episode, the worst move of the season was Makensy using her HOH to send Leah out the door. It kick-started an endgame that looks bleaker and bleaker for her. She has almost single-handedly given the win to Chelsie. I'm all for loyalty. However, by eviting Rubina this week and keeping Cam, she sets herself up for a tougher path to the Final 2. While Cam and Rubina have one win each this season, why risk Cam finding his spark and stealing one when Rubina is a far lesser threat? The only semi-decent recent for cutting her now is the guaranteed votes she would have from Kimo and T'kor if she were in the Final 2.

Rubina being evicted was the least interesting outcome this week. It completes the systemic unraveling of the T'kor, Kimo, and Rubina voting block, allowing a far stronger trio to make it to the end. Rubina was snake-bitten competition-wise, failing to win anything, but her social game and low threat level allowed her to remain under the radar. She was the ideal floater to take to the end, though she couldn't break up the trio. Rubina was never set up to be a strong individual player. Her inability to win made her reliant on others to get her further. In that, she succeeded. First, her connection with Tucker thrust her into the spotlight. Then, she found herself tied into a fun-loving trio, helping her get to the Final 4. She was a fun personality in the house. Unfortunately, she couldn't win power.

Paths to Victory for the Final 3
Chelsie- This game is Chelsie's to lose. Going into the Final 3 HOH, there is no indication that Makensy or Cam won't take her to the end if they win. If Chelsie makes it to the Final 2, she's winning the game, barring an incredibly bitter jury, though there is no indication of such this season. If she wins the Final 3 HOH, she'll have the added prestige of owning the most HOH wins in BBUS history. The real question is whether Makensy or Cam will wake up and do what needs to be done if they win on Sunday night?

Makensy- Despite doing everything in her power to throw the game away, there is a path to victory for Makensy. She is the season's comp beast, winning two AI Arenas, two HOHs, and five vetos, the last of which is tied for the third-most in BBUS history. The biggest hindrance to her win equity is her lack of big moves. Chelsie is responsible for everything that happened in the final weeks, beginning with Leah's eviction during MJ's HOH. Makensy CAN win this season. However, the odds aren't in her favor.

Cam- There is also a slim path for Cam to shock the world. Cam has struggled to win competitions, though he could surprise us all by winning the Final 3 HOH. Cam's path to win feels like it can only happen one way. Cam has to win the Final 3 HOH, evict Chelsie, and hope the jury is impressed that he took out the strongest player. A weak performance from Makensy during the jury questioning would also help. The only problem is that Cam is more likely to send MJ out the door on Sunday if he wins.
